How going vegan for 5 years can change life

We all obsess over food. Food initially was a source to survive. But now food is a way to satisfy our taste buds, doesn’t matter if the food is nutritious or not. Food as of now isn’t mainly seen as a way of reducing hunger but rather to enjoy the taste, or to post on social media, and many other reasons but hunger. Meat, as an example, contains protein required for the body, but we don’t like our meat the simple way it’s supposed to be eaten. We add tons of flavors to it and cook it red and spicy. We also consume meat not for protein as often, but to satisfy taste buds, or because it bodes well with alcohol.

Meat is a specialty and is mainly cooked on special occasions. Many of us love meat even though we know, its large consumption doesn’t lead to bliss. Several health issues can be given birth with the excessive intake of meat. But we cannot take our sight away from it, because let’s face it, we love eating it. Talking about me, I look forward to a delicious treat of meat every single day. (Even though I don't eat it every single day). Not many of us can get rid of it. But one person, my friend Bandana Budthapa has managed to quit meat for over 5 years, and she doesn't intend to stop. (Applause)

Took me by surprise once I heard about it. She is a foodie and often posts content with eating challenges on YouTube. So how does a foodie manage her life without meat? And what did she learn from this? I asked her several questions, and she answered them by taking her time and reflecting back on the process.

Question No 1:  What made you quit meat?

Answer: My utmost love for living beings made me choose to be a vegetarian.

2) What were the obstacles you faced initially?

Answer: Due to my previous habits of eating meats, at first, I found it difficult to control myself in not eating meats.

3) How do you adapt to your house? As everyone else eats meat and you don’t.

Answer: To adapt is easy in my household because I cook for myself. And most importantly, we hold the notion that one can choose whatever one thinks will be good for them.

 4) Why do you think everyone should go vegan?

Answer: I believe everyone should go vegan mainly to stop the butchering and cruelty of animals. And also I believe we can get nutritious food without killing any living beings.

 5) What would you like to tell people who are trying to quit eating meat?

Answer: Even trying to quit meat is a very good step. If you find it hard to quit this habit, try reducing your intake of meat. Decrease the amount of meat in your meal and increase the amount of other vegetarian foods. This will make the process a bit easier.

6) What is the most important lesson you learned from this habit?

Answer: The most vital lesson I obtained was to realize that we can live happily and peacefully without causing any harm to nature. I reminded myself of this fact numerous times when I began trying to quit meat.

 7) If you had the chance, would you go back to your old habits?

Answer: Absolutely not. I will not go back to doing the things old way again because I am content with my decision. I have a strong feeling that I have gained positive energy from this habit of mine. Also, my physical health has improved, and my mental health has changed for the better.

Thank You for reading till the end.

Once again, I would like to thank Bandana for taking her time to answer my questions.
